Biography

Kristie Williamson began her career as an educator teaching English as a foreign language. She has taught English language in China at all grade levels, working with children and adults in a range of contexts. Kristie then moved to Australia to work in Monash University English Language Centre, teaching international students preparing to enter university. While working in this context, Kristie took on a PhD researching improved teaching strategies to support Chinese international students achieve success in assessment. While undertaking her PhD, Kristie began working in initial teacher education. Kristie is currently an education-focused lecturer, teaching units in language and literacy in the Faculty of Education. Kristie is passionate about literacy outcomes for all students. Her research interests relate to literacy pedagogies and supporting multilingual learners. Kristie draws on practice theory to understand and develop improved pedagogical approaches.
