Kiran is a public health professional, currently working as a research fellow at the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health, Victorian Heart Institute, Monash University. Kiran’s PhD research focuses on improving primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Kiran has over a decade of experience in HIV programs funded by USAID/PEPFAR, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the Global Fund. Kiran has worked extensively with diverse communities, including migrants, refugees, and LGBTIQA+ populations. Kiran was extensively engaged in the development of various national guidelines, such as the Standard Service Package for Key Populations in Nepal, the National HIV Strategic Plan, and the Consolidated Guidelines for HIV Prevention, Treatment, Care, and Support Services. Recently, Kiran was selected as an emerging leader at the World Health Summit 2024 regional meeting in Melbourne, Australia, where he shared his reflections from two summit sessions. Kiran is actively contributing to Hypertension Australia as a member of the Advocacy and Society Liaison Committee. In Nepal, Kiran initiated innovative solutions for HIV programs, such as online HIV interventions, an enhanced peer outreach approach, and interactive voice response systems. Kiran has worked in various capacities with both government and non-governmental organisations. Kiran has consistently supported community-centric approaches, utilising participatory learning, person-centered design, and community-led monitoring methodologies. Kiran has published more than 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented at more than 10 national/international conferences on both HIV and non-communicable diseases.
