Dr Juxi (Jürgen) Leitner is a roboticist with global impact and recognition. For more than 20 years Juxi has designed, developed, and deployed smart robotic systems.
Dr Leitner is a Senior Lecturer at Monash Robotics, in the Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering withing the Faculty of Engineering.
His research is at the intersection of Robotics, Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI) with publications across 3 decades. He has given more than 50 invited talks across the globe and has been an author to more than 100 publications, see: https://scholar.google.com.au/citations?user=mzZy2NMAAAAJ&hl=en
Dr Leitner has been active as an entrepreneur with a particular focus on transferring fundamental research (deeptech) into fundamentally useful products. He is currently CTO and co-founder of LYRO Robotics.
Before starting LYRO, Juxi led the robotic manipulation efforts of the Australian Centre of Excellence on Robotic Vision (ACRV) in Brisbane, Australia. Juxi has been awarded a PhD from USI (Università della Svizzera Italiana) for his work at the Swiss AI Lab (IDSIA) on the iCub humanoid robot under the guidance of Prof Jürgen Schmiduber and Dr Alex Förster.
Juxi joined IDSIA after being part of the European Space Agency's Advanced Concepts Team in the Netherlands and a research stint at the University of Tokyo, Japan.
Juxi's background is in computer science and space technology. He holds degrees from the Joint European Master in Space Science and Technology (SpaceMaster) - a Master of Science (Space Science and Technology) and a Master of Science in Technology (Space Robotics) - and a BSc in Software and Information Engineering (TU Wien, Austria), as well as, graduating from a vocational high school in informatics.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
Informatics (AI & Robotics), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), From Vision to Actions: Towards Adaptive and Autonomous Humanoid Robots, Universita della Svizzera Italiana (University of Lugano)
