Biography

Dr. Joshua Soo is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Centre for Net-Zero Technology, Monash University Malaysia. He received his PhD from the Australian National University (ANU) in 2024, researching on the scalable synthesis of earth-abundant catalysts for (photo)electrochemical water-splitting. During his PhD, he had casual working experience as a research assistant in an ANU-based start-up working on electrode fabrication for industrial-scale electrolysers. Prior to that, he obtained his M.Phil. and B.Eng. (Hons) from Universiti Malaya (2019) and Multimedia University (2016), respectively. His research career has led to him receiving awards at the university, national and international levels. Joshua’s current research interests revolve around the area of electrocatalyst synthesis and (photo)electrode device fabrication, with a focus on using sustainable materials and processes. While currently pursuing these areas of interest for green hydrogen technology, he is open to adopt them for other relevant applications.
