Jordan Murray is a lecturer in Jazz Studies at Monash University. Jordan’s career as a trombonist, composer, orchestrator and educator has involved working in diverse areas of the music industry. As an improvising trombonist, Jordan has recorded as both a leader and collaborator on dozens of projects that has led to practice-based research in the field of group improvisation. Jordan researches the process of spontaneous improvisation through emergence and indexicality. Jordan has performed and recorded with leading practitioners such as George Lewis, Dave Douglas, Enrico Rava, Hermeto Pascoal, Kenny Werner, Mark Helias, Tom Rainey, Nasheet Waites, Paul Grabowsky, Scott Tinkler, Tony Gould, Paulo Angeli and Stephen Magnusson.
