Personal profile

Biography

I am passionate about ensuring every student—regardless of background, networks, or resources—can develop authentic professional capabilities before entering the workforce. My scholarly research examines how technology-enhanced simulations can develop professional communication and decision-making skills, with a particular focus on demonstrating measurable improvements in student performance through rigorous quasi-experimental methodology.

I have pioneered research showing that AI-enhanced in-person learning can produce significant gains in objective assessment outcomes—work recognised through the QS Reimagine Education Silver Award (2024) and multiple ASCILITE Innovation Awards.

I believe that traditional approaches to professional education systematically advantage students from privileged backgrounds—those with family networks, unpaid internship access, and cultural capital. My work creates equitable compliments: technology-enhanced environments where all students can practice, fail safely, receive expert feedback, and develop professional identity.

I am committed to democratising access to the professional preparation that prepares graduates for career success. Innovation through evidence is at the heart of what I do. I created ATLAS (Authentic Teaching and Learning Application Simulations)—Australia's first educator-guided generative AI platform for professional skill development—now adopted by eight international partner institutions across four continents. Unlike AI tools retrofitted for education, ATLAS embeds pedagogical intent in every interaction, with educators defining learning objectives, assessment criteria, and feedback mechanisms. The platform has generated over 50,000 authentic learning conversations across 12+ disciplines.

As Director of the Monash Innovation Guarantee, I lead a flagship university initiative ensuring all Monash students develop innovation capabilities through authentic challenges—embedded in 93 undergraduate degrees and 60 postgraduate programs. As AI Lead for the Student Experience Portfolio, I shape Monash's institutional approach to AI literacy and capability, reaching 100,000 students and 20,000 staff across the Monash Group. Through these roles, I work to position Monash as a global leader in preparing graduates for professional success in an AI-augmented world.
