Biography

Jhana Pfeiffer-Hunt is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Department of Architecture at Monash University. Her current research focuses on the relationship between representation, public encounter, and learning in architectural education - particularly how communicative and performative practices influence student motivation, agency, and confidence. She leads the Foundation Year Communications stream and co-coordinates Foundation Year Architecture Studio units, advancing inclusive, research-informed pedagogies that foreground learning through doing, making, and presenting.

With a background spanning interior design, museum studies, and tertiary and transition education, Jhana specialises in the relationship between design communication, public engagement, and learning. Her professional experience includes heritage interpretation projects for UNESCO World Heritage sites in Australia and Malaysia, collections research with Melbourne Museum, and curatorial and interpretive work with the Duldig Studio.

Jhana has a long-standing commitment to platforming student participation in public-facing educational contexts, positioning communication and representation as integral to architectural thinking and discourse. This cross-disciplinary foundation continues to inform her research, connecting architectural representation, curatorial interpretation, and public learning as interrelated modes of inquiry and practice.
