Biography
Dr Jessica Roberts is a Research Fellow and quantitative data analyst in Data Matters in the Department of Social Work at Monash University. Her current research investigates the effectiveness of social programs and how these programs reach and support their intended populations. She has been part of a number of evaluations, which have required close collaboration and working partnerships with individuals at other institutions and government agencies, including the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ). These quasi-experimental evaluations have primarily focused on programs aimed at improving stability and safety for youth involved in child protection and out-of-home care, as well as reducing homelessness and improving the provision of public and community housing. With her background in biological research, Jessica is experienced with study design, problem solving, and linking and managing large complex datasets. She is skilled at using statistics to interpret longitudinal data, advanced analytics, and individual-based computer models to answer broader questions. Jessica completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne in Zoology, looking at how large kangaroo species are affected by climate, and she received her BA in Integrative Biology from The University of California, Berkeley (USA).
