Personal profile
Research interests
I am a gender and cultural historian of the early modern period, interested in global history and connections between people around the world. My current research involves women and children in the Portuguese Empire, especially in Brazil and in Japan. I have previously published on the history of emotions and letter-writing, elite women and diplomacy, and on cultural encounter in the early modern period.
Supervision interests
I am interested in supervising projects on gender and cultural exchange during the early modern period as well as broader topics of diplomacy, material culture, and encounter.
