Personal profile

I am a settler historian of Australian and Aboriginal history with a background in working with local communities, Aboriginal Elders and leaders in Melbourne and regional Victoria. My career aim is to bring my skills to work in academic and community settings on projects that benefit Aboriginal communities. I am a skilled and experienced teacher in Indigenous Studies and Australian History with over ten years in the sector.

My research and teaching record demonstrate my commitment to respectful collegial communication with people from diverse backgrounds, with an emphasis on sensitivity, transparency and cooperation. I have a proven track record of relationship building with project stakeholders to secure positive outcomes for Aboriginal communities – evidenced in my research for Department of Premier and Cabinet, my PhD research and resulting collaborative publications.

In my present position as a lecturer, I bring my community contacts, knowledge and relationships to my teaching and research in ways that holds Aboriginal peoples’ wellbeing at the forefront of my pedagogical approach.
