I am passionate about using science to help species and ecosystems cope with climate change. My work focuses on understanding biological vulnerability to climate change, predicting how species and ecosystems will respond to particular climate change impacts, bio-physical modelling of the effects of climate change and prioritising conservation actions in the face of multiple threats. My primary objective is to protect and conserve Antarctic biodiversity into the future by using robust science to inform policy and decision-makers.

My project at Monash University is to develop a Systematic Conservation Plan for the Antarctic Peninsula, which is one of the most rapidly changing regions in the Southern Hemisphere. The progressive effects of climate change and growing human activity, both science and tourism, have led the Antarctic Treaty System to seek solutions to improve management and conservation in the region. I am working with the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) and the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) to develop a conservation plan that will incorporate the values of all major stakeholders in the region - biodiverstity, science and tourism.
