Biography

James Bowman Fletcher is a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Monash University, a practising architect, and an editor of Memo Review Architecture. His research interests include architecture and art, architecture and building, and architecture and words. James’ recent written and built work has been published locally in Union and internationally in Ardeth. He is the current Coordinator and Chief Examiner of the Foundation Studio 2 unit in the Department of Architecture.

James' realised and ongoing built works include A House from Another House [I] (2020-2023), A House from Another House [II] (2022-2023), and Three Walls, Three Rooms (2022-). Previously, as a co-founder of 227768c and OCTA, he realised the Apparatus Series (2016-2019).

In 2023, James was awarded an Early Career Researcher Grant by Monash University's Office of the Provost and Senior Vice-President awarded him an Early Career Researcher Grant to undertake fieldwork and archival research at the Judd Foundation and the Chinati Foundation/la Fundación Chinati in Marfa, Texas.

In 2024, he curated the exhibition Five Architectural Case Studies of the Chinati Foundation/la Fundación Chinati at the Chinati Foundation/la Fundación Chinati in Marfa, Texas.
