Biography
Dr Jadranka Petrovic is a lecturer in law in the Department of Business Law and Taxation.
Before joining academia, Jadranka first worked in judiciary and then in corporate sector and private practice. Jadranka holds a Bachelor of Laws, Master of Laws (Melb) and a Doctorate of Juridical Science (Melb). In addition to her degrees, Jadranka has completed a number of non-degree-based courses, including Postgraduate Diploma in International Law (Melb), Postgraduate Certificate in Australian Law: Legal Process and Institutions (Melb), a year-long postgraduate course in Advanced Legal Theory and Research Methodolgy (Melb) and Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (Monash). She has also studied Multicultural Studies (RMIT) and has completed a number of computer and language courses (various institutions).
While Jadranka's teaching and research has predominantly been in the areas of international law, she has also been involved in units concerning research methodologies and research methods, and business law subjects, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Jadranka is MIGR member and acredited research supervisor. Her research and supervision interests are in the areas of public and private international law, as well as business law. Her expertise includes: International Humanitarian Law (especially international legal protection of cultural property in armed conflict); International Criminal Law, Art and Law, Citizenship, Rights And Gender; International Institutions; International Human Rights Law, International Environmental Law; Climate Change Law; International Dispute Resolution (especially adjudication and arbitration); Statehood, Sovereignty and Self-Determination; International Sale of Goods (especially the CISG); International Trade Law (especially the WTO); Australian Legal Process and Institutions; Business Law (especially contract law and business entities). She also has interest in animal rights law and the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and law.
Jadranka has been invited to guest lecture at a number of universities. She regularly gives seminars and workshops in the BLT and presents papers at prestigious international and national conferences including ILA, ANZSIL, ESIL, IAGS and LSA conferences.
Jadranka has edited, authored and co-authored a number of journal articles, books and book chapters published by reputable book publishers and high-ranked journals.
