Personal profile

Biography

Dr Irene Ling completed her BSc in Applied Chemistry in 2004 and MTech in Materials Science in 2006 all from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She was a Research and Development Engineer before she pursue her PhD in University of Malaya in 2008. After significant time building independent research as a postdoc, she was appointed as a Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry in 2016 within the School of Science at Monash Malaysia. In 2022, she was appointed as a Senior Lecturer. Her research interest include studying supramolecular chemistry (self-assembly), crystallography & crystal engineering, advanced materials (carbon rich nanomaterials, fluorescent dyes), sensors and green chemistry (organocatalyst). She has published over 50 refereed publications since 2005, primarily in the area of supramolecular chemistry and crystal engineering, with some of these work featured in journal covers. Currently, she is the President for the Malaysian Crsytallographic Association. She also serves on the editorial board of PLoS One and a Junior Ambassador for USERN. She received multiple research fundings from national and international funders and has received several recognition awards for her scientific contribution.
