Personal profile
Biography
I am an Associate Professor in the School of Mathematics at Monash University, and Associate Dean Graduate Education in the Faculty of Science.
My research interests are in algebra and group theory. I am particularly interested in computational group theory, and mathematical areas that use computational methods of algebra.
Please see http://users.monash.edu/~heikod for more details.
Supervision interests
I am interested in supervising students in the area of computational algebra. Students eager to discuss options should first have a look at my research background and interests as outlined on my website. I generally ignore non-personal e-mails and random requests which are clearly outside my area.
Monash teaching commitment
I'm mainly involved in the following units:
MTH3150 (Algebra 2: Rings and Field): chief examiner, coordinator, lecturer
MTH5151 (Computational Group Theory): chief examiner, coordinator, lecturer
MAT9004 (Mathematical Foundations for Data Science and AI): co-lecturer
Community service
Since 2013 I am actively involved in CSIRO's https://www.csiro.au/en/Education/Programs/STEM-Professionals-in-Schools.
