Biography

Haimanot is a research fellow and PhD candidate at Health and Social Care Unit, School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University.

Haimanot’s PhD focuses on exploring weight stigma and societal norms towards preconception, pregnant and postpartum (PPP) women from community members’ perspective. Through her project Haimanot identifies community members’ perceptions, the nature of weight stigma, societal norms, and factors that sustain or prevent weight stigma towards larger bodied PPP women.

Research interests

Haimanot's research interest areas include maternal and women’s health, weight stigma, social determinants of health, social epidemiology and health equity.
