Biography

Dr Goran Torbakov is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Banking and Finance at Monash Business School, where he teaches across a wide portfolio of finance subjects, including Foundations of Finance, Corporate Finance, Treasury Finance, Case Studies in Finance, and Business Finance. His teaching practice combines rigorous analytical training with applied case-based learning to prepare students for the financial decision-making, governance, and ethical challenges of contemporary business environments. He emphasises critical engagement, reflective judgement, and the integration of financial theory with real-world strategic contexts.

Dr Torbakov’s research interests encompass financial governance, entrepreneurship, and sustainability in complex organisational systems. His doctoral research, completed at Murdoch University, examined the intersection between entrepreneurship, governance, and organisational longevity in the Australian aged-care sector, with a particular focus on not-for-profit (NFP) and multicultural service organisations. In addition to his academic role, Dr Torbakov holds prominent governance positions, serving as Chair of the Board of MCWA Ltd and Chair of the Board of ACSP Ltd.
