Biography

Professor Geoff Rose is Director of the Institute of Transport Studies in the Department of Civil Engineering. In addition to leading the on-line Master of Transport degree, Geoff teaches CIV4283 Transport Planning and CIV5314 Planning Urban Transport Systems. Geoff's research interestes cover cycling, walking, travel demand management and sustainable transport policy.

Geoff's recent research has focused on enhjancing understanding of usage pattersn and policy issues associated with motorised mobility scooters, electric bicycles and motorcycles. He is also undertaking research on factors influencing usage of parking for cars and bicycles at railway stations, opportunities to improve the performance of urban railway level crossings, and the leglislative requirements on-site parking at new apartment developments. As part of the Sustainable and Effective Public Transport Graduate Research Interdisciplinary Program Geoff will be supervising doctoral research on mobility as a service.
