Biography

General information

I am a Senior Research Fellow in Machine Learning and the recipient of an ARC DECRA fellowship.

My main research interests currently include:

  • scaling up machine learning to large time series datasets
  • creating land-cover maps from series of high-resolution satellite images
  • modelling high-dimensional joint and conditional probabilities from categorical data

Some biography

I obtained my PhD in 2012 with the French Space Agency on the automatic analysis of satellite images, PhD for which I received "Best Science PhD" from the University of Strasbourg and "Best Machine Learning PhD" from the French Machine Learning Association. I then joined Professor Geoff Webb's team in the then Monash Centre for Data Science, and began developing new algorithms for scaling up standard statistical methods to large datasets. I obtained "tenure" in 2016.
