Biography
Francis Chiu leads the Bioanalytical section at the Centre for Drug Candidate Optimisation (CDCO). He joined the CDCO in 2003 with over twenty years' experience in the fields of medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry and pharmaceutical science. Francis completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Sydney and held roles at La Trobe University, Washington University, U.S.A. and the Chinese University, Hong Kong. His role at the CDCO involves leading a team responsible for the LCMS analyses of experimental drug candidates to determine their metabolic stability and their pharmacokinetics. He enjoys being involved in the large variety of research areas and collaborative projects; and being exposed to new research ideas and technologies. Frances' key projects include the Ozonide antimalarial project and the NHMRC project focussing on antibiotic resistance, which features in andlsquo;Ten of the Best Research Projects, 2015' by the National Health and Medical Research Council.
