Biography
Dr. Ewilly Liew is a Senior Lecturer in the Econometrics and Business Statistics Department. She currently serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies, the Course Director of Bachelor of Business and Commerce (BBusCom), and the Deputy Course Director of Bachelor of Digital Business (BDigBus). She was previously the Department Coordinator (2020-2022) and the Academic Advisor for Business Analytics (2016-2018).
She completed her tertiary studies at Monash Malaysia (2007-2015) and graduated from Monash Australia Data Science Microcredential (2020). At Monash, she received numerous awards including Dean’s Honours List (2009, 2010), Overall Best Thesis (2010), Best Thesis Presentation (2010), Honours Degree Full Scholarship (2010), and Postgraduate Research Degree Full Scholarship (2013-2015).
As an early career researcher, Dr. Ewilly focuses her interdisciplinary research on emerging technology adoption, digital transformation, and applications of behavioral analysis methodology in public healthcare, higher education, and service sectors. In particular, she specializes in data visualization, statistical learning, structural equation modeling, and survey-based analysis.
A recipient of the Monash Vice Chancellor's Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning Award (2020), Dr. Ewilly was recognized for her education innovation. Her teaching philosophy aims at empowering students on the practicality and creativity of applied data analytics in the business world. In her first 5 years at Monash, she developed four new Business Analytics units at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her students were crowned champion in numerous national and regional data science competitions.
Dr. Ewilly participates in multiple international and national interdisciplinary research projects on artificial intelligence AI-driven systems, gerontechnology, and public health policy review. She leads a team of collaborators working closely with clinical specialists to leverage the data-rich Electronic Medical Records System for healthcare analytics. She engages with the public healthcare community and external industry collaborators. Internationally, she was a visiting research fellow at Harvard University (Spring 2015) and an organizing committee for the IEEE International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (IEEM 2022).
She continuously upskills and reskills herself through data science courses from the International Statistical Institute (ISI), Center of Applied Data Science (CADS), SAS Malaysia, SAP University Alliances, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporate (MDEC), DataCamp, Tableau, MOOCs, and other learning platforms.
