Research Group Head, Embryo Implantation Laboratory
Centre for Reproductive Health
The Hudson Institute of Medical Research
NHMRC Senior Research Fellow
Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology, Monash University
Lecturer, Education Program in Reproductive Biology, Monash University
After completing a BSc degree in Melbourne, Associate Professor Eva Dimitriadis gained 8 years experience as a research assistant in Melbourne, Munich and Dublin following which she completed her PhD studies at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. She then undertook post-doctoral studies in the University of Dublin before returning to Australia to begin her research in reproductive biology at PHI now Hudson Institute of Medical Research.
Associate Professor Dimitriadis has a passion in understanding infertility, what factors contribute to making the endometrium receptive to an implanting embryo and endometrial-trophoblast interactions during implantation. Her program includes investigating non-invasive biomarkers of implantation potential. She has a strong focus on microRNA regulation of these processes and investigating novel sustained release targeted delivery options. A number of her projects have a clinical translational focus are in pre-clinical trials.
She also has a strong interest in developing new non-hormonal contraceptives that also prevent sexually transmitted diseases and the development of novel treatments for endometrial cancer.
Associate Professor Dimitriadis has International, national and Industry collaborations including Monash IVF, the Walter Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, Monash University, University of Melbourne, University of Tokyo, Commonwealth Serum Laboratories and the Karolinska Instituet in Sweden.
