Biography

Dr Schmidt is a lecturer in the Student Academic Support Unit within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.  She currently supports medical students primarily in their clinical placements within the Eastern Health Clinical School and the Central Clinical School.  She offers adjunct classes related to clinical communication, as well as offers individual support to students to assist them with study skills, assessment preparation, and specific communication tasks.  In addition, she participates in and supports special additional programs and/or teaching activities within each clinical school.

Dr Schmidt collaborates on research projects related to clinical communication, clinical reasoning, study skills, and learning & teaching with partners from the medicine faculty and clinical schools.  She also collaborates with Deakin University partners affiliated with the Eastern Health Clinical School, where Deakin medical students are also placed.
