Biography

Emdad Islam completed his Ph.D. at the UNSW Business School and joined Monash University as a Lecturer in July 2019. His research focuses on Corporate Governance, Corporate Finance, Entrepreneurship, Corporate Innovation, Managerial Compensation Contracts, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Family Businesses. His work has been presented at conferences such as the European Finance Association (EFA), American Economic Association (AEA), SFS Cavalcade Asia-pacific, Finance Down Under, Northern Financial Association (NFA), China International Conference in Finance (CICF), American Law and Economics Association (ALEA), Conference on Empirical Legal studies (CELS), FMA, FMA Asia-Pacific, among others. His research has won several Best Paper Awards, including the 2018 Financial Markets and Corporate Governance conference, New Zealand Finance Meeting (2017), FMA Annual Meeting (Semi-Finalist 2017 and 2019), FMA-Asia Pacific (Semi-Finalist 2018). His papers have been published/accepted for publication in The Journal of Financial Economics (JFE), The Harvard Business Review (Online), and The Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis (JFQA). His research has appeared in The Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulations and The BusinessThink.
