Biography

Elliott is a Lecturer in the Bachelor of Media Communication. Before joining Monash University, he was Lecturer in Media Communication at The University of Queensland.

Elliott is the author of Breaking Bad and Dignity: Unity and Fragmentation in the Serial Television Drama (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016) and is Associate Editor of Series: International Journal of TV Serial Narratives. He has published numerous essays in film and television criticism in leading journals including ScreenCritical Studies in Television, and New Review of Film and Television Studies. His essays have also appeared in major edited collections on television aesthetics and screen performance, including Television Aesthetics and Style (Jacobs and Peacock, 2013), Close-Up: Great Cinematic Performances, Vol. 1: America (Pomerance and Stevens, 2017), Television Performance (Donaldson and Walters, 2019), Cognition, Emotion, and Aesthetics in Contemporary Serial Television (Nannicelli and Perez, 2021), and Moments of Television: Sound/Image (Bignell, Donaldson, and Cardwell, 2022).

He is currently completing a book on screen performance in serial television drama for Rutgers University Press, and is developing further projects on screen casting and television platform interfaces.
