Biography

Professor Elil Renganathan currently serves as Professor of Public Health and Policy, with a focus on strengthening public health systems and policy development. He is a senior international expert with over three decades of experience in global public health, including 25 years in leadership roles at the World Health Organization. His expertise covers public health, global health, programmatic evaluation and organizational learning, strategic planning and governance, and he has collaborated extensively with governments, UN agencies, nongovernmental organizations and academic institutions across the world.

He has made critical contributions to Malaysian healthcare policy, including as a member of the Advisory Council for the Health White Paper.  In addition to his continued contribution to WHO's work globally and regionally, he is increasingly engaged within the ASEAN health sector.

Prof Elil also serves as an Independent Director on the Board of ProtectHealth Corporation Malaysia, and as a member of the Advisory Board of the European Global Health Research Institutes Network.

He has a Medical degree from Bonn, Germany (MD), and received his postgraduate training in London, UK (PhD, MSc and DTM&H).
