Biography

Dr. Edwin Lim is the Head of Department of Accounting and Associate Professor of Accounting at the School of Business, Monash University Malaysia. He is a Chartered Accountant Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and a Certified Practising Accountant Australia (CPA Australia). He also currently serves as an Honorary Associate Professor of Accounting at Deakin University Australia. He earned his PhD from Monash University Australia, and has held academic positions at both Monash Australia and Deakin University. 

Edwin's teaching philosophy is rooted in the intersections between professional practicum, employability skills, and technological innovation. He has significant experience in course development and accreditation programs for CPA Australia-CAANZ. In 2021, Edwin and his team received the Australian Awards for University Teaching, a prestigious national award, for their outstanding contribution to student learning through the development of an impactful undergraduate capstone accounting unit at Deakin that integrates business simulations and employability skills. 

His research interests revolve around financial accounting, corporate reporting, auditing, corporate governance, business strategy, sustainability reporting, ESG, climate change disclosures, human capital/employee treatment and capital markets. In addition to publishing in ABDC A*/A/Q1 ranked internationally peer-reviewed journals, Edwin has successfully secured research grants from the Australian Accounting Standards Board, Bursa Malaysia, Cagamas Berhad, and the Ministry of Education, China.
