Biography
Dragana is an early career Research Fellow who has contributed important findings in models of inflammatory kidney disease, including autoimmune vasculitis, and other autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis and lupus). She has defined the critical role of several key immune mechanisms in disease pathogenesis and tested new therapies, as well as provided important findings in immunoregulation in basic immunology. The ultimate aim of her research is to find better targetted treatments for autoimmune kidney disease. Her current projects are examining the role of various costimulatory pathways and type I interferons, and testing novel cellular therapies such as tolerogenic dendritic cells and stem cells in autoimmune glomerulonephritis. In addition, she is examining the novel role of myeloperoxidase as an immune regulator.
