Professor Lukose has over 25 years of experience in professional consulting services, applied research and development in Artificial Intelligence Systems. Prior to joining Monash Data Futures Institute at Monash University, Dr Lukose was the Chief Data Scientist at GCS Agile Pty. Ltd. (Australia), leading a team of Data Engineers and Scientist building Predictive Models,  Ontology Modelling and Engineering. During his role as the Chief Research Director and Director of Artificial Intelligence Centre in MIMOS Berhad (Malaysia) from 2007 to 2016 he was responsible for leading a team of 70 research scientist, software architects, software engineering and knowledge engineers in creating intellectual properties and commercialization of these patents by incorporating them into large scale national project for the private and public sectors in Malaysia. His role was to plot the strategic direction of his teams R&D in AI, in addition to mentor and guide his team on the application of novel AI techniques and technologies including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Semantic Web, Knowledge Graphs, Social Network Analytics, and Natural Language Processing to solve challenging real-world problems. Earlier in his career, Dr. Lukose worked as Principal Knowledge Engineer with Mindbox Inc. (USA) and prior to that with Brightware Inc. (USA) responsible for architecture and development of high-performance Artificial Intelligence software for the Utility and Financial Sector. He holds a BSc (Hons) and a PhD from Deakin University (Australia).

Research interests

Professor Lukose research interest is in novel application of Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Engineering techniques in data mining. Specifically, applications of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning techniques to Predictive Analytics, Longitudinal Analytics, and Graph Analytics. 


Professor Lukose is a passionate, dedicated, commercially focused Data Scientist with over 25 years of experience in consulting services, applied R & D of Intelligence Systems Technologies across the Financial Services, Utilities, Health, Agriculture and Government sectors globally. Prof. Lukose is open to explore consulting engagements, specifically in the applications of technologies developed in Monash University to solving complex real-world problems.
