Biography
Daniel is an early career researcher and clinical epidemiologist who studied Medicine and specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Brazil (University of Sao Paulo), subspecialised in Fetal Medicine (Fetal Medicine Foundation / King's College Hospital, London, UK) and in Maternal-Fetal Medicine - High risk pregnancy (Monash University - Australia). He has recently completed a Master in Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology at Harvard University (USA).
His main research interest is in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Prevention of pregnancy complications, Prenatal diagnosis and Early pregnancy screening. In the last 5 years, Daniel has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications (career total 170, H-index 32 (Google Scholar)), and has published in leading journals including NEJM, Lancet, JAMA, BMJ Open, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Human Reproduction, and Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Daniel recently led and first-authored a European multicentre landmark randomised trial on the prediction and prevention of pre-eclampsia involving nearly 27,000 screened women in 13 hospitals and six European countries. This study, published in NEJM, has changed clinical practice and had over 2000 citations in six years.
Daniel is an Associate Professor at Monash University, and recently received the 2023 "Top Australian Researcher in O&G" Award.
