Biography

Christo Karuna received his Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Michigan, and is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School's Executive Education program, Driving Corporate Performance. Christo has taught students in the undergraduate, Full-time MBA, Evening MBA, Executive MBA, Health Care Executive MBA, and Executive Education programs at leading universities worldwide like the University of Michigan, University of California at Irvine, University of Houston, and University of Southern California. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of California at Los Angeles. He has also supervised PhD students who are currently employed at leading universities. He currently teaches Strategic Management Accounting at the masters level and Accounting for Sustainability at the undergraduate level, and is the recipient of the inaugural Dean’s PRME Education Excellence Award and the Purple Letters for Teaching Excellence.

Christo’s research interests lie broadly in organisational culture and governance. He is the founder coordinator of the International Consortium for Values-based Governance (ICVG) based at Monash University. He has published in top-tier academic journals and has received accolades for his research, which he has presented at leading universities worldwide. His product market competition measures have been extensively used by researchers across a range of disciplines. Christo is Associate Editor (Family Medicine and Primary Care Section) of the Frontiers in Medicine and serves on the editorial board at the Journal of International Accounting Research. He is frequently invited to be a reviewer for top-tier journals and discussant at top-tier conferences and has received a Best Reviewer Award from the Journal of International Accounting Research. Christo has worked in Australia for KPMG, Telstra, and Ferrier Hodgson & Co. in audit, corporate insolvency, and investment banking.
