Chiara De Lazzari completed her PhD in Politics at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. She works as a Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at Monash University, Australia.

Before joining Monash University, she worked as Teaching Associate at the University of Melbourne.

She has published journal articles and book chapters in the areas of Italian migration, citizenship rights, and language policies in Australia. Her monograph titled Transnational Politics, Citizenship and Elections: The Political Engagement of Transnational Communities in National Elections was published by Routledge (Taylor and Francis) in 2019.

Her research interests include migration studies, citizenship rights, political participation of diasporas, and political participation of migrant youth. 

She also worked as a Political Analyst for SBS Italian Program and has extensive experience in media engagement and public outreach. She has contributed with op-eds to The Conversation, Australian Institute of International Affairs, SBS News and Sky News
