Personal profile

Biography

Dr Charles Wright is a Research Fellow in the Department of Anatomy and Development Biology at Monash University. He completed his PhD in Biophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago (USA) under the supervision of Prof Norbert Scherer and A/Prof David Biron. Following postdoctoral training studying single-cell growth dynamics and homeostasis of bacteria at Purdue University (USA) with A/Prof Srividya Iyer-Biswas, he was recruited to the group of Dr Senthil Arumugam at Monash University.

Research interests

Dr Wright’s research focuses on the question of how robust functional behaviours emerge from complex networks of stochastic components acting across different length- and timescales in living systems. His expertise is in developing integrated experiment–analysis pipelines for high-precision quantification of dynamic, stochastic processes. He is currently using light-sheet microscopy and artificial intelligence-enabled image analysis to characterise key steps in intracellular trafficking.
