Personal profile

Charanjit Kaur is a Lecturer in the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics (EBS) at Monash University. She specialises in coordinating, managing and teaching large core Statistics units. Understanding the many challenges associated with providing world-class education to large, culturally diverse cohorts, Charanjit employs innovative approaches to teaching including interactive and student-focused activities in lectures. She has initiated team-teaching and re-arrangements of teaching spaces for tutorials, thus creating collaborative learning environments that encourage critical thinking and student engagement. The positive impact of her innovations on student outcomes is evident in her receiving consistently strong results from Student Evaluation of Teaching Units and various teaching awards such as the Vice Chancellor’s and Dean's award for excellence in teaching and Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning (Australian Awards for University Teaching). She is also actively involved in education-focused research, having consistently secured research funding to optimise the impact of new technologies and teaching methodologies in her large classes.
