Personal profile

Biography

Dr Chandan Kundu is a Research Fellow and Laboratory Manager in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Monash University. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and has over ten years of experience in biomass conversion, thermochemical processing, and circular economy technologies.

He is best recognised for developing patented biomass-to-chemicals and Plastic conversion processes using catalytic pyrolysis and process intensification. His research spans biochar valorisation (bio-slurry fuels and bio-coke), plastic and tyre waste-to-fuel technologies, and industrial waste recycling. Dr Kundu plays a key role in industry-linked projects, including collaborations on the pyrolysis-based recycling of decommissioned subsea infrastructure.

He has published in leading journals, contributed to patent development, and actively supervises HDR and undergraduate researchers, focusing on scalable, industry-relevant solutions for clean energy and sustainable manufacturing.
