Biography
Dr. Chan Eng Seng is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Monash University Malaysia. He was the Discipline Head of Chemical Engineering from 2011 to 2018. His research interest revolves around the development of novel and sustainable oil ad fats processing technologies for food and fuel applications. He is currently heading the Monash-Industry Plant Oils Research Laboratory (MIPO) which serves as a gateway to promote and coordinate multidisciplinary collaboration and academic-industry linkages in research programmes related to sustainable oil and fats processing.
In education, he believes that ‘Practice-based Learning’ is the best way to learn engineering subjects. He has introduced a number of open-ended projects in the chemical engineering programme with the goal to provide students the opportunities to gain hands-on experience in designing chemical processes and operating pilot-scale chemical plants.
Prof. Chan is a Professional Engineer, a Chartered Engineer, and a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
