Biography

Dr Parker is an Early Career Research Fellow at Monash University in the Transfusion Research Unit and holds research interests in patient experience and outcomes, utilising qualitative and mixed-methods expertise to provide novel insights. 

Dr Parker’s PhD, in the field of acute myeloid leukaemia survivorship care examined financial burden using a mixed methods study design.  Dr Parker has had a diverse career before academia in diagnostic laboratories, before moving into clinical trials and policy and advocacy with roles in both private and not-for-profit organisations. Dr Parker has led a number of policy initiatives and research to improve cancer care and the experiences of patients and is passionate about embedding and increasing the profile of the patient lived experience in research and clinical trials. 

Dr Parker is actively engaged with the oncology and haematology community through membership and committees with the Australasian Lymphoma and Leukaemia Group (Supportive Care Working Group) the Multinational Association of Supportive Cancer in Care (MASCC) (Supportive Care and Palliative Care committees) and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion (ANZSBT).
