Professor Brian Fildes is an Adjunct Professor with the Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC). Brian has a PhD in Psychology and qualifications in Science and Engineering. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Transport Safety Research Centre at Loughborough University in the UK. His speciality is Human Factors research in road safety. He has particular interests in occupant protection, speeding, driver perception and injuries to older people, both on the road and in the home.

Brian joined MUARC soon after it was established in 1987. He developed and managed a team of researchers and graduate students working on a number of safety research projects. He has been instrumental in helping government agencies implement a number of new injury prevention counter-measures and programs as well as evaluating real world crash performance for the automotive industry. From 2008-2012, Brian was based at the Monash University Prato Centre in Italy, and was involved in a number of teaching and research activities in Europe.

Professor Fildes has an extensive publication record and is on several editorial panels for a number of international scientific journals and has supervised over 15 Masters and PhD graduate students. He is also the immediate past President of the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM) and has received numerous awards for his research in injury prevention.
