Professor Mitra is a consultant Emergency Physician and director of Emergency Medicine research at Alfred Health, Melbourne. Following completion of his Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Melbourne, he completed a Masters in Health Services Management (Monash University). He completed his PhD on the diagnosis and management of acute traumatic coagulopathy (Monash University) in 2012. Dr. Mitra is chair of Clinical and consumer Reference Group for the critical bleeding module of The National Blood Authority, Australia and member of the Medical Advisory Committee for the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood.
Professor Mitra has extensive experience in clinical research projects, with a focus on acute trauma resuscitation using blood and blood products.
