Biography

Belinda Goldie holds a PhD in Medical Biochemistry (Molecular Neurobiology) from the University of Newcastle (awarded in January 2015), in the fields of post-transcriptional gene silencing and synaptic plasticity. In May 2015 she commenced a two-year Japan Society for the Promotions of Science (JSPS) post-doctoral fellowship at Kyoto University developing imaging methods for visualisation of miRNA-mRNA interactions, and during this time, diversified her research interests by commencing a project investigating the role of m6A RNA methylation in the regulation of neuronal gene expression and activity. Dr Goldie is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the lab of Dr Traude Beilharz in the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, where her current projects are centred around understanding the role of poly-adenylation in post-transcriptional gene regulation, using yeast and mammalian cells as models.
