Asmare Gelaw is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Healthy Working Lives Research Group and Monash Centre for Occupational and Environmental Health at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University. 

Asmare Gelaw holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Physiotherapy both from the University of Gondar and a PhD (Epidemiology) from Monash University, Melbourne,Australia. 

Before enrolling at Monash University to pursue his PhD, Asmare Gelaw worked as a physiotherapy lecturer and clinical physiotherapist at the University of Gondar Hospital.

Dr. Gelaw's research focuses on the physical and psychological health of healthcare and other workers, compensation claims, occupational and environmental hazards in the workplace, the physiological and mental health impacts of bushfire fighters, and chronic physical health conditions after injury.
