Biography

Asad Khan is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University.

Research interests

  • Parallel Computing: Accelerated machine learning and numerical modelling with clusters and GPU for applications in deep learning, bioinspired techniques, parallel adaptive FEA, domain decomposition, parallel adaptive grid generation.
  • Distributed Computing: Distributed pattern recognition, event detection for WSN, macroscopic target recognition, real-time pattern recognition, distributed content recognition, distributed intrusion detection.
  • Cloud Computing: Map-Reduce framework and auxiliary applications, cloud data management, platform virtualisation.

  1. Streaming application development for SSE-CPU and GPU.
  2. Parallel message passing for wireless in-network computations.
  3. Elastic computing with Graph Neuron (GN) enhancements to Hadoop file system (HDFS).
  4. Wireless sensor network grid for structural engineering applications.
  5. Computational resource optimisation with self-organising grids.


Intelligent Systems - Graph Neuron (GN) related projects

  1. Temporal algorithms for a pattern recognising computer.
  2. Developing One-shot Learning Artificial Neural Nets.
  3. A closed-loop multi-dimensional GN array for autonomous navigation.

Internet Protocols and Applications

  1. Wireless sensor networks (WSN) for new forms of monitoring applications.
  2. Self-organising WSNs for dynamic and unpredictable environments.
  3. Optimising a large-scale peer-to-peer (P2P) network.
  4. A VoIP Serverless (P2P) application.
  5. Architectural design of a P2P network using IPV6.
  6. Possible architectural models for incorporating Serverless (P2P) applications as web services.
  7. Internet-wide service discovery strategies.
