Biography

Arif's specialisation is in digital strategy and data science. With an extensive background in IT services and finance, he brings over a decade of experience from reputable institutions such as the University of Queensland, Singapore Institute of Technology, and Aarhus University. Currently serving as the Director of the Action Lab Indonesia, since December 2022, Arif conducts research in responsible AI, blockchain applicability, machine learning applications, and digital strategy across various sectors including finance, education, and healthcare.

Arif has successfully secured substantial funding from diverse entities such as Bank Indonesia, the Monash Data Future Institute, the Whyte Fund, and the Singapore Institute of Technology, reflecting his pivotal role in advancing research on digital strategies. He is also an educator, having designed and conducted numerous workshops supported by Singapore’s SkillsFuture and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Singapore programme. His sessions, such as Data Analytics for Professionals and Automation for Accountants, have trained numerous professionals in Singapore and Indonesia, equipping them with advanced skills in data science and analytics.

As a speaker, Arif has delivered insightful talks at prestigious venues across the globe, including the QS Higher Ed Summit and the T20/G20 International Conference. His presentations cater to audiences from professional associations and financial institutions across Australia, Indonesia, and beyond. This includes engagements with the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, Financial Service Authority (OJK) Indonesia, Indonesia Re, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Indonesia, CPA Australia Indonesia, University of Sussex, Anglia Ruskin University, Swinburne University of Technology, and RMIT Vietnam.

His research contributions are published in leading journals such as Information & Management, Production, Planning, and Control, Electronic Markets, Journal of Information Systems, and International Journal of Accounting Information Systems. He has written numerous business and teaching cases in Journal of Information Technology Teaching Cases. He has presented his research at various workshops and conferences on primary accounting, accounting information systems, and mainstream information systems.
