Biography

Dr Shaoru Annie Zeng is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Monash University, within the School of Teaching, Curriculum, and Inclusive Education. She teaches across initial teacher education programs, including the Bachelor of Education, Master of Teaching, and Master of Education, and actively contributes to research projects.

Annie holds dual registration as both a school teacher and an early childhood teacher, earned through her Bachelor of Education degree in Australia. She has taught for years in both Australian government and independent schools, gaining extensive experience across early childhood, primary, secondary, and tertiary education. Her doctoral research employed a convergent mixed methods approach to explore curriculum implementation, assessment, teaching pedagogy, and intercultural dimensions in international education. Her work focuses on early childhood education, teacher education, and international education, deepening the understanding of effective teaching practices in both Australian schools and global contexts.

Research interests

Annie's research focuses on enhancing teaching and learning practices, particularly in the following areas:

  • Curriculum development and pedagogical innovation within teacher education.
  • Effective teaching and learning strategies in early childhood education.
  • International and intercultural educational studies, including International Baccalaureate.
