Biography

Anne Harris, PhD is currently a full-time research fellow funded by an Australian Research Council Early Career Researcher (DECRA) Award (2014-2016) researching creativity in secondary schools. Anne is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education and works primarily in the areas of creativity, diversity, performance and drama, and digital media. She is a native New Yorker and has worked professionally as a playwright, teaching artist and journalist in the USA and Australia. She holds both Master and Bachelor degrees from New York University where she studied playwriting and performance with Tony Kushner, Arthur Miller, Peggy Phelan and Eve Ensler among others. In addition to her plays, she has published over 50 articles and 6 books that address the arts, culture, and performance, including her latest book Critical Plays: Embodied Research for Social Change (Sense, 2014).
