Biography
Andreas Deppeler is a researcher and teacher based in Malaysia. He teaches courses on financial technology, innovation, data value and digital strategy. His research focuses on the economic and societal implications of artificial intelligence.
From 2020 to 2023 he was an adjunct associate professor at NUS Business School in Singapore. His courses provided introductions to AI, digital platforms, privacy, data sharing and data value, blockchain and quantum computing from a business and strategic perspective. He taught at graduate and undergraduate levels as well as in executive education. In addition to his teaching duties, he served as the deputy director of the Centre on AI Technology for Humankind at NUS Business School.
Before returning to academia, Andreas worked for almost twenty years in the corporate sector in Europe, the United States and Asia. After obtaining a PhD in theoretical physics, he joined BCG, a global management consulting firm. He also worked for the Zurich and New York offices of a major Swiss bank. For several years he ran his own independent management consulting firm. In 2016 he moved from Switzerland to Singapore. As Director of Data and Analytics at PwC Singapore, he contributed to acquiring and leading a portfolio of client engagements in data analytics, AI governance and blockchain.
