Biography

Andrea is an Assistant Lecturer at the Monash Sustainable Development Institute, teaching into the Master of Environment and Sustainability.

Prior to this role, Andrea undertook a PhD in Sustainable Development at MSDI. Her thesis explored the potential of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to transform universities. In specific, her thesis looked into how universities are adopting the SDGs, and the diverse ways university actors think about the SDGs and the role of universities in transforming society.

Previously, Andrea conducted research on sustainability assessments for the UNEP-DTU partnership in Denmark (now UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre), worked as a junior consultant at Demos Helsinki in Finland, facilitated workshops with the Colectivo de Diseño Disruptivo, a design collective working on social innovation projects across Latin America, and worked as a manufacturing engineer in the technology sector in Mexico and the US.

Research interests

Andrea is interested in exploring sustainability-related futures of universities, co-creative approaches for knowledge generation and integration, and epistemic justice.
