Biography

Dr Amy Page is a research fellow and NHMRC Early Career Fellow, Centre for Medicine Use and Safety, Monash University.  She is also Lead Pharmacist Rehabilitation Aged and Community Care at Alfred Health and the practice pharmacist at Emerald Medical Centre.

Dr Page's research interests primarily relate to medicines safety and the quality use of medicines for older people, particularly those with dementia or chronic diseases or using polypharmacy.  She has received over $1.8 million in research funding and published over 60 articles including more than 40 peer reviewed papers.  She is an assistant editor for the Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Research, supervised three completed masters theses and is currently supervising two PhDs and one masters research projects. She has presented on medicine safety and the quality use of medicines for older people nationally and internationally. Her research is frequently profiled in the professional and lay media.

She continues to practice clinically as one of the first Australian pharmacists to work within a general practice to optimise medicines use among people with multimorbidty and polypharmacy. She has been in this role since 2015, and is recognised as one of Australia's leading pharmacists in interdisciplinary practice and general practice.  Additionally, she is the Lead Pharmacist Rehabilitation Aged and Community Care Services at Alfred Health where she is responsible for delivering pharmacy services in the outreach care program known as Hospital Admission Risk Program (HARP).

Dr Page contributes broadly to the profession including as a state branch committee member and multiple national committees, including Choosing Wisely committee, for the peak body for pharmacists, the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA). She is Victoria's youngest fellow of the PSA and credentialled as an Advanced Practice Pharmacist. She was honoured to be named PSA’s 2015 Young Pharmacist of the Year.
