Biography

Dr Amutha Ramadas is a Senior Lecturer with the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine & Health Sciences at Monash University Malaysia. She is a nutritionist with a Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition (UPM) and a doctorate from Monash University. She has also completed the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education to strengthen her skills as an educator. Subsequently, she completed a second Master's degree in Applied Statistics (University of Malaya).

Her fields of research interest include clinical and community nutrition, health education, health promotion, and biostatistics, given her academic and professional training in these areas. She is particularly interested in nutrition for preventing and managing metabolic diseases. Her research targets the identification of nutrition and lifestyle behavioural risks for metabolic diseases and modification of these behaviours to reduce the risk for chronic conditions. Specifically, she has been working on research involving individuals with or at risk for metabolic disorders, primarily type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.

She has since published and presented her scientific findings in various indexed journals. She is also an independent reviewer for several international journals. She is currently serving as a Council member of the 19th Nutrition Society of Malaysia Council (2022-2024) and played a vital role in the Technical Working Committee of the Malaysian Dietary Guidelines for Vegetarians under the auspicious of the Ministry of Health, Malaysia. She is a member of the Malaysian Society of Body Composition and a life member of the Nutrition Society of Malaysia.

Consulting

Dr Amutha provides statistical consultation to academics and graduate research students of Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She can be consulted on medical study designs, sample size calculations, basic & multivariate statistical analysis using SPSS, and systematic reviews & meta-analysis using RevMan.
