Biography

Amanda is a Research Fellow in Public Health Nutrition at Monash University. She is currently co-ordinating the Benchmarking for Healthy Stores project which is investigating a continuous quality improvement benchmarking model to facilitate uptake of best practice in remote food retail. She holds a Bachelor of Nutrition & Dietetics (First Class Honours) and has over 12 years of experience working in clinical dietetics, research, community health and public health nutrition. She has spent over half of her career working in Aboriginal health and outreach services in the Northern Territory and volunteering in international development in the Pacific region.

Research interests

Amanda is passionate about social justice and working towards achieving equity in health outcomes for all through tailored, community-centred public health initiatives. Her current work is focussed around creating health-enabling food retail environments in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community stores to support healthier customer purchasing patterns and improved health and wellbeing.
